In simple terms, the reserves were outplayed by a stronger Foster side in most positions of the ground. With a stiff breeze blowing directly up the ground,  Foster won the toss and had first use of that breeze. This put our defence under enormous pressure and although they battled hard to stem the tide Bulldogs were down by 19 points at the first break.

In what turned out to be a great game of football, two evenly matched teams held the game in the balance until the final siren.

Foster had first use of a stiff breeze but the Bulldogs backline stood firm and turned defence into attack with Alex Redmond showing the way with some great play. It was a credit to the Islanders to limit the Tigers to 3 goals while booting 2 themselves.

In a match that developed into an absolute cliff- hanger, Phillip Island came away with the points at the final siren.

Tarwin were quick to find their feet on the wet surface and peppered the goals from the outset with the Bulldogs not having an answer to their style of play. At the first change, the Islanders were 27 points in arrears on a day which was not conducive to high scoring.
