Under 18s - Rnd 1: Phillip Island v Kilcunda-Bass (Home)

Footy's back and once again the Island took on arch rivals and closest neighbour Kilcunda Bass. Interest was mounting to see what side the U18's were going to have with last year’s U15 lads coming up and several of the boys playing their final season of junior footy. Coach again this season is in the very capable hands of Andrew Dallinger and captain this year will be Ben Tester. Andy stressed that all top age boys are to be leaders on the field and spread the responsibilities all game.

The game started with a great running goal to bottom age player Dylan Hunter, a solid lead up mark and goal to Darcy Johnston and followed by a opportunistic goal to James Blackwell after coming off the bench. Dallo unleashed his wild card, new player Mitch Price, with immediate results with him having a hand in a goal and finishing the quarter off with a goal of his own. as the game went on ,the opposition had no match for this exciting talent and he finished his first game  with best on ground efforts. Whilst the forwards continued to produce, it was the strength of the backline that was the match winning efforts. Led by the half back  line of Dan Kirby, Todd Kenter and Dylan Grayden, they kept repelling the top efforts of Killy- Bass and set up the forwards. The on ballers had an intriguing tussle with their opposition and probably broke even with solid contributions from Bryce Pewtress, Dylan Holland and Mitch Guy. the game was played out in an entertaining style but there is still a lot of improvement and fitness in this team, but for the first game , Coach Dallinger was very pleased.
