This week we travelled out to local rivals Dalyston on a perfect day for footy. Due to our strict rotation policy, inform players Price, Hamilton, Cole and Cleeland were rested this week and the boys knew that they would have a solid game on their hands.
The first quarter played out with neither side giving an inch but good crumbing goals to Wagner, Emery and Blackwell put us in front at the first change. The game seemed to slow up with many stoppages and plenty of touchy free kicks which just didn’t let the players get into a free flowing game. Mitch Guy was having a great game in the ruck, not only giving his rovers plenty of taps but his around the ground work and marking was fantastic, Jarman Dwyer and Marcus Wright were busy in and under the packs all day and forwards Wagner, Blackwell , Manteit and Emery were in and out of the game but made valuable contributions. The backline was held together by Dan Kirby, Bryce Pewtress and a great game by full back Gav Powles. Darcy Johnston was the one to keep the forward line happening, with clean hands, set up early goals and after half time went back to full forward and gave his team a target, kicking two goals , the last one from a solid lead and mark which sealed the game in the Island's favour.
