Phillip Island v Foster (Home)
View Current Ladder and Results
Phillip Island started in grand style getting the jump on Foster and kicking 4 goals to none in the first quarter. Charlie Plant snagged the first goal and Truong Lee, who was showing great desperation, was rewarded with a goal of his own. Alex Officer scored two to finish off the quarter.
Q1, Phillip Island 4.2.26 to Foster 0.1.1
Foster lifted their work rate in the second term and actually won the quarter on the scoreboard. Phillip Island was second to the ball, and was making clumsy tackling errors. Rhys Arnold and Jarrod Black scored goals for the Island.
Q2, Phillip Island 6.2.38 to Foster 2.2.14
Things went from bad to worse in the third term. The Island failed to trouble the scorers at all, and Foster wasn’t much better scoring just one goal for the quarter. The Island was struggling to get their flow on game working, and was fortunate to take an 18 point lead into the final change.
Q3, Phillip Island 6.2.38 to Foster 3.2.20
Phillip Island finished the game with two goals to one in the last term. Alex scored his third, and Ayden Froud kicked a great long goal. It was a lack lustre game played in good spirit which the Island won by 26 points.
The positive for the Island was the strong performance of a number of players who don’t usually feature in the best players, who all made a big contribution.
One game to go against Inverloch away next week before the finals.
