Under 15s – 1st Semi Final (29th August 2010)
Phillip Island v Korumburra Bena (Meeniyan)

In muddy, wet conditions the Under 15s played Korumburra in the first semi final at Meeniyan on Sunday. The Island had the ‘Burra’s measure last time they met during the season, but Korumburra is always a tough opponent.

It was a real battle for supremacy in the first quarter. The Island got off to a great start with a couple of early goals. Eli Richards and Tyron Sandback were giving them great drive around the ground while Shane Taylor and Jarrod Black was lively up forward. Brodie Johnston and Tim Van Cuylenburg were dangerous around the goals.

Q1: Phillip Island 2.1.13 to Korumburra 1.2.8

The pressure continued in the second term. Sam Horvath was doing a terrific job in the last line of defence, and Arie Cook was in control across half back. The Island scored one more goal and stopped Korumburra from scoring any to take a handy 13 point lead into half time.

Half Time: Phillip Island 3.4.22 to Korumburra 1.3.9

PhillipIslandbroke the game open in the 3rd term. The backline was repelling every Korumburra attack, while Tim Van Cuylenburg added more goals to his tally and the Island opened up a match winning 30 point lead.

Q3: Phillip Island 6.5.41 to Korumburra 1.5.11.

PhillipIslandran the game out in fine style, slamming on 3 goals to none in the last term to run out convincing 48 point winners. Tim Van Cuylenburg was a star up forward booting 5 goals, but it was the even team performance that won the day. The back line was sensational, letting just one goal in for the day

Good luck next week against Dalyston in the Preliminary Final.
