Brothers in Arms

Brothers

It is believed that a record was made with Phillip island firsts last Saturday when there were four sets of brothers in the senior team. The photo shows the eight players before the game. From left : Kingsley & Wes Bilney. Chris & Jarrod Dykes. Beau & Zak Vernon. Josh & Sam Docherty.

Bilney

The Bilney. Boys played their first game for the island, they have come from South Australia and last year they played with Northern Bullants which is the reserves team for Carlton. Their first game was very exciting with six goals between them and more importantly their effort to keep the island in the game in the first half when Kilcunda Bass were on top.

Dykes

The Dykes boys played their junior footy on the island and Chris had last year off and has now joined  Jarrod after many years together.

Vernon

Zac has played every year for the island and Beau joined him for the second half of the year last year after playing with Gippsland Power and the VFL Scorpions. He is now Assistant Coach.

Docherty

Sam Docherty became the youngest regular senior player last year in recent years at the age of 15 and Josh and him played most of last year together both in the Seniors and the final series in the U18s. The great results on the field were marred in the last few minutes of the game when Beau Vernon received a shoulder injury.
