Phillip Island held on for a narrow 6 point win against Tarwin down at shark park

The Island started the day’s proceedings through the experienced Jake Weir at the 2 minute mark of the quarter. Tarwin then wrestled back the ascendency with 2 goals in a minute, but Simon Seddon broke up Tarwin’s run with the Islands second for the afternoon. Tarwin took over again with 2 unanswered goals in what was becoming a seesawing affair. Hayden Moore was moved up forward and the results showed straight away with his first of the afternoon.

The Island were down by just 3 points at the first break and things got worse when Tarwin scored early in the second but after that it was all Phillip Island. Beau Runnalls starred for the Island up forward kicking all three of the Islands goals for the quarter but there was a dark side to the quarter with the Island kicking 6 behinds. Even with their inaccuracy the Island still went into the half time break up by 9 points

The Island hit the scoreboard early with goals to Runnalls and Moore but Tarwin weren’t ready to lay down without a fight as they answered with 3 goals of their own and when Moore kicked his third for the day the Island stretched their lead to 11 points at the final break

That man Moore kept the Island well infront with his fourth 2 minutes into the last quarter. Tarwin hit back and hit back hard adding 3 unanswered majors to all of a sudden have the scoreboard all level at 75 a piece with the Island having 25 scoring shots and Tarwin just 15. Runnalls took a strong mark on the boundary and as time ticked away his attempt on goal fell short and dropped into the hands of Hayden Moore. Moore sent his shot straight through the middle and gave the Island a nail bitting 6 point victory
