2016 Round 10 Netball vs Foster

The girls played a competitive first half, their passing was accurate and they are definitely improving as a team. There were great intercepts which was fantastic to see, Vicki and Jess's hard work is paying off. Zoe O'Geary and Amelia Crooks played well as a team in the goals. Shanae Riley played a strong defence game winning down back for Island a number of times. The second half flowed better with passing and defence stronger. Well done girls on a great game!

Phillip Island u/15's started well at Foster in the cold and slippery conditions. Working together and sharp shooting, the score at three quarter time was 11-3 with Phillip Island leading. It was a tight second quarter, goal for goal. At half time the score was 22-13. In the last half the u/15's displayed great team work and smart passing into the shooters. All the girls played a great game!

Final score: PI 41 def Foster 22

Best: Emma Felsovary and Finley Dempsey

With both teams evenly matched on the ladder a strong even game was expected. Both teams delivered an exciting first half. All lines for the Tigers and Bulldogs were playing their part, no one giving an inch. But with a few position changes saw Taylor Turner on in the third quarter and girls made a break and took to the three quarter break with a handy lead. Constant pressure in defence by Chloe Moxey finally wore Foster down. Island winning a very good game. All girls played their part and stood up when needed. They should be happy and proud of their efforts.

A grade

Well what a day it was for the Island's A grade team. The only PIFNC senior football/ netball team to have a win against Foster. The girls knew that it was going to be a tough game against a strong Foster team and a good win was needed to keep them sitting top four on the ladder. The rain started coming down as the girls took to the court but that didn't stop them from coming out strong in the first quarter. Foster also came out strong, jumping the Island girls to a couple of goals lead half way through the first quarter until the Island girls settled and started to find their rhythm. They held Foster to a three goal lead at the first quarter break. Wow what a second quarter the Island girls had, possibly the best quarter of netball the girls have played all season. Hands were over every pass, balls were being fed beautifully into the shooters, pressure was being put on down the entire court, defenders were working tirelessly in the ring and every player was chasing after every ball and backing each other up. The girls had a fantastic 30-14 goal lead at the half time break. The girls worked hard to maintain their lead and ran away convincing winners in what was a tremendous win against strong opponents. The girls worked incredibly hard as a team and each player did their job. Everyone should be so proud of their efforts and they are playing fantastic netball which is exciting to see. Keep up the great work A grade, you are doing the club proud and it is great to see you all so positive and supportive of one another.
